Six schools in the League as Belmont joins

More schools than ever are competing in the Haringey Schools Cycling League after Belmont Primary joined earlier this month.

Belmont finished a close second in the Girls 24″ race.

Six schools took part in an afternoon of grass track racing at Chestnuts park, in the penultimate event of the 2013-14 League calendar.

Last year’s champions North Harringay finished one point behind Risley, whose lead in the overall competition looks unassailable.

A strong performance by Chestnuts saw them finishing third in the afternoon’s racing. Newcomers Belmont had a promising debut, taking fourth place, just ahead of Coleridge.

Risley now dominates the standings with 251 points, ahead of NHP at 217 and St. Aidan’s at 166.5.

Four teams–Risley, Chestnuts, St. Aidan’s and North Harringay–competed in an afternoon of relay races on a course that hadn’t been dry enough to use in over three months.

North Harringay, still smarting after finishing third in January’s hill climb, took first place, narrowly beating Risley, followed by St. Aidan’s and Chestnuts.
