Risley built on their lead over North Harringay to top the league again at the end of Round 4, after another great day’s racing on grass in frosty sunny weather on Ducketts Common – Round 3 having been frustratingly washed out.
After a series of very cold days, the ground was frozen hard first thing, but conditions were good once the sun rose higher and the leaves and sticks were swept from the track.
Six schools battled it out on a C-shaped course with a couple of technical turns for the second day’s racing of the season. The fantastic vocal support and encouragement of all the team members, staff and families really boosted the riders.
As the season progresses, the course will feature more technically challenging turns – leading up to the introduction of the ‘vortex’ to really challenge the riders.
Each school won at least one of the finals, with Stroud Green and Seven Sisters both winning two.
It was great to see several Year 4 riders taking part again – hopefully ensuring a steady flow of keen riders next season.

Round 5 will be an exciting roller-racing event indoors at St Mary’s on Friday 23rd February.
With thanks to Leigh Day for their support for this year’s League.
